About the event:
The Frigiliana 3 Cultures Festival is a blend of celebration and culture that was born in 2006, with the idea of promoting Frigiliana with a major tourist event in the province. This way, culture, gastronomy, music, theater, and more are combined in an amalgam of activities that make up each edition, and that literally pull in thousands of people to Frigiliana.
The Tapas Route
The tapas route is undoubtedly one of the most popular activities. The idea is simple: to offer a wide range of tapas with drinks at a reasonable price: €3!!
It wasn’t created as a competition, but each year hundreds of people take to the streets to complete the route and earn their t-shirt. Others, more sedate, simply take advantage of the opportunity to stroll through the town with friends.
3 Cultures Market
The Frigiliana 3 Cultures Festival takes place on the streets, centered around the central hub of the 3 Cultures Market. With more than 150 stalls spread throughout the historic center of Frigiliana and its surrounding area, this is the place you must visit if you visit Frigiliana during the festival.
Live Music Concerts
Furthermore, the night will transform this space into one of the places from which music will flow. Intimate, welcoming, and open-air, the Town Hall Courtyard hosts a concert every day of the festival. About 500 meters away, the Plaza de las 3 Culturas will be the venue for the most crowded concerts. Both venues are joined by the magical and unique space of the Church of San Antonio de Padua.
Performances
But the festival goes far beyond the market – around it we’ll see theater groups performing street performances, nightly fire shows, workshops, artisans… thousands of people wandering the streets of Frigiliana.
Throughout the day, from the Church Square to the Andalusia Park, the streets of Frigiliana are alive with revelry, celebration, and people.
Theater groups are active morning and afternoon, and on our walk through the village, we may be confronted by medieval characters or encounter belly dancers. If we visit the Zacatín, we’ll see artisans at work live on the most emblematic street in the old town. As we walk, music will always be present; the PA system installed in every street will transport us back centuries.
The Frigiliana 3 Cultures Festival offers tourists a range of festive and recreational activities that are difficult to match in the province.
Cultural events are presented in the form of lectures, and the film series is another way to learn about our past and other cultures.
We can’t forget the gastronomy and music, with a select offering that prioritizes quality and leaves aside the loud noises or more commercial sounds that have their place at other times of the year.
Any tourist visiting our province during the Festival should not miss the opportunity to visit this beautiful town in the Axarquía region at the time of year when it’s at its busiest and busiest.
